Bellamy Named NCBWA, Rivals.com All-American

University of Miami junior closer Kyle Bellamy has been named an All-American by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and by Rivals.com.
Bellamy, who earned first- team All-America honors by the NCBWA, is among the national leaders with 16 saves this season. In 46 1/3 innings pitched, the Davie, Fla. native allowed just five earned runs while striking out 63 and holding his opponents to a .147 batting average against him. In a team-high 30 appearances,
Bellamy (3-1) allowed just two extra-base hits and finished a perfect 16-for-16 in save opportunities. His 16 saves are tied for fifth in school history for saves in a single season, with 12 of his 16 saves coming from more than an inning of work.
Already this season, Bellamy has been named one of five finalists for the prestigious NCBWA Stopper of the Year award as well as a semifinalist for the Golden Spikes Award, the Dick Howser Trophy and the College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year Awards. He was also named as the closer on the 2009 All-ACC First Team. He also was a fifth round selection by the Chicago White Sox in the 2009 MLB Amateur Draft.
