Hurricanes Top 3 Performers of the Week
May 1, 2009
Chris Herrmann, Junior, Baseball
In a weekend series against Virginia Tech and a mid-week game against North Florida, Herrmann went a combined 6-13 (.461) with 4 RBI and 6 runs scored, including hitting his fourth home run. He now leads the Hurricanes in total runs scored with 44. Herrmann, who is currently batting a .302 average, is just one of two Hurricanes to start all 44 games this season.
Deandra Doyley, Junior, Track and Field
Doyley set a new personal record in the triple jump this past weekend at the Penn Relays with a mark of 12.53 meters, finishing in third place. The mark was good enough for her first regional qualifying mark in the event this season. Doyley, who is a three-time All-ACC Performer, also set a personal record in the long jump event a week earlier at the ACC Championship.
Scott Lawson, Junior, Baseball
In a weekend series against Virginia Tech and a mid-week game against North Florida, Lawson went a combined 6-14 (.428) with an RBI, 2 runs scored, and 3 stolen bases. He had 3 multi-hit games over the weekend against the Hokies. This season, Lawson is currently the Hurricanes leader in batting average (.346), total at bats (159), hits (55), doubles (15), and is tied for the team-high in stolen bases (9).
