Miami's Mikese Morse Earns ACC Performer of the Week Award

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Miami `s Mikese Morse has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Outdoor Track and Field Performer of the Week for his performance at the season-opening Hurricane Invitational on Saturday, March 21.
This past weekend, the University of Miami hosted the outdoor season’s first meet, the Hurricane Invitational. Morse posted a mark of 7.62m (25-00.00), passing the regional qualifying standard by nearly a foot.
Morse, a junior from Tampa, was named an All-American for the second time in his career after a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor National Championships for his performance in the long jump on March 13.
Also during the indoor season, Morse broke Horace Copeland’s 17-year-old school long jump record at the ACC Championships, with his second place leap of 7.90m (25-11.00).
The weekly conference award is the first for a Hurricane since Tim Harris was honored on April 8 of last year.
Morse along with the rest of the Hurricanes will be in action this Saturday, March 28 at the UCF Invitational in Orlando.
