Hurricanes Look for Last Chance at Pair of Meets

CORAL GABLES – With the start of the 2009 Indoor Track and Field Championships just seven days away, a few University of Miami of Miami student-athletes, who have yet to qualify for the event will have one last opportunity at two last chance meets this weekend.
Friday evening, junior Deandra Doyley will compete in the long jump at the LSU Indoor qualifier. The Lauderdale Lakes, Fla. native reached a mark of 6.15 meters at the ACC Championships last weekend, earning a fourth-place finish. However, the mark is five centimeters short of a provisional qualifying mark and Doyley will be aiming for that in Baton Rouge.
On Saturday, the 4×400 relay team of Ti’erra Brown, Tameka Jameson, Nene Kamate and Kristy Whyte will attempt to reach the 3:42.40 provisional time at Notre Dame’s Alex Wilson Invitational. This particular foursome has yet to compete in the event this season. The team is scheduled to run at 2:35 CST.
The NCAA Indoor National Championships will be held on the campus of Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, March 13-14.
