Miami's Diego Rosado in Contention at ACC Championships

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The multi-event got under way in the opening day of the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships at Virginia Tech’s Rector Field House. Three Hurricane women completed the pentathlon and sophomore Diego Rosado finds himself in striking distance after four events in the heptathlon.
After completing the 60-meter dash, high jump, long jump and shot put, Rosado finds himself in ninth place overall in the pentathlon, just one position away from scoring. So far, the Albuquerque, N.M. native’s best event has been the high jump where he reached a mark of 1.94m, placing sixth in the event. With a total of 2,679 points, Rosado is only 124 points shy of scoring.
For the women, freshmen Jennifer Estime, Rachel Dupree and Brittney Clarke completed the pentathlon. Dupree led the trio, finishing with 3,224 points. Dupree’s best event was the high jump, where her mark of 1.62m was good for eighth.
Leading the overall standings after the first day for the women is Clemson with 18 points, followed by NC State with six points.
Tomorrow’s action will get under way at noon when the men will complete the heptathlon, the running and field events will begin a 1 p.m. with the women’s long jump and will conclude with the men’s distance medley relay at 7:35 p.m.
