Miami Baseball Moves Into NCBWA Top 10

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami baseball team entered the Top 10 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll on Monday after taking three of four games against Rutgers over the weekend at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.
The Hurricanes, moving up from No. 12 to No. 10 in the NCBWA poll, also jumped several spots in two other polls released after the season’s first weekend.
Miami biggest move of the week however came in Collegiate Baseball Newspaper‘s poll, where the `Canes jumped from No. 18 to No. 14.
Rivals.com also moved UM up from No. 23 to No. 20 after the `Canes out-scored Rutgers 32-17 over the weekend, including a 18-9 victory on Sunday.
Miami remains unranked in Baseball America‘s Top 25.
The Hurricanes will make their first road trip of 2009 when they head to Gainesville to take on in-state rival Florida in a three-game set, Feb. 27 – March 1.
