Hurricanes Top 3 Performers of the Week

Michaela Kissell, sophomore, Women’s Tennis

During the National Team Indoors at the University of Wisconsin last weekend, Kissell won a team-high 5 matches between singles and doubles. Her only loss came in a doubles match-up against No. 1 Northwestern featuring the nations’ top-ranked player. In singles play, Kissell currently has a career-high 12 match win streak (19-5 overall) and remains the only undefeated singles player for Miami this spring at 9-0.

Ruben Ross, junior, Swimming and Diving

At the ACC Championships last Thursday at University of Maryland, Ross won the 3-meter diving event with a final score of 474.30, over 26 points ahead of the second place finisher. This was his second ACC title in the event in three years. Ross has previously competed in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games for the Canadian Diving Team and will compete in the NCAA Championships this year on March 19-21.

Britta Boesing, senior, Swimming and Diving

This past Wednesday at the ACC Championships, Boesing helped the 200-medley relay team and the 800-freestyle relay team set new school records with times of 1:42.95 and 7:16.62, respectively. The 800-freestyle relay result, which beat the previous school record by nearly 4 seconds, was one of two marks that qualified for the NCAA `B’ trials for Miami.
