Miami Diver Reuben Ross Second on Platform in Atlanta

Atlanta, Ga. – University of Miami men’s diver Reuben Ross laid claim to his third top three finish of the weekend on Sunday by earning third place in the platform event of the 2008 Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga.

Competing in his first collegiate platform dives of the year, Ross looked to be in mid-season form right off the bat as he tallied a score of 400.30 to finish in second place. That was just off the cut for first place as the Regina, Saskatchewan (Canada) native finished .50 behind eventual winner Dan Mazzaferro (Auburn) who took a score of 400.80. Ross led after the preliminary round of scoring.

Coming in third for the day was Auburn’s Kelly Marx who also posted his third consecutive top three finish of the weekend with a score of 391.75, while Florida State’s Dan Frebel was fourth on the day with a total of 351.60

The event, hosted by Georgia Tech is taking place at the Georgia Tech Aquatics Center. On the women’s side, Alabama swept all three platform scores, led by Carrie Dragland (283.30). That was followed by teammates Elizabeth Hughes (220.65) and then Baylee Ellson (200.80).

The next event for the Hurricanes will be Dec. 5-7 when they travel to the Midwest for the annual Ohio State Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
