Vallverdu Advances to ITA Southeast Regional Champs Quarterfinals

Lexington, Ky. – Top-seeded Daniel Vallverdu of the University of Miami men’s tennis team won two matches on Saturday to advanced to the quarterfinals at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships at the University of Kentucky.
Vallverdu, the nation’s third ranked singles player, defeated Florida’s Dan Cash in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4 in the Round of 32 and then knocked off Memphis’ Jorge Vazquez 7-6 (3), 6-7 (5), 7-5, in the Round of 16 to advance to Sunday’s quarterfinal round.
Miami’s David Simon fell in the Round of 32 to LSU’s James Cluskey, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, to end his run in singles play.
Vallverdu plays on Sunday versus the winner of the match between seventh-seeded Tim Puetz of Auburn and 15th-seeded Jonas Berg of Ole Miss.
