Top-13 Finishes for Cross Country at Disney Classic

ORLANDO, Fla. – The University of Miami cross country teams ran to top-13 team finishes at the Walt Disney Cross Country Classic. The men led by senior Ryan Woodlee placed 11th, while Emma Steppe led the women to a 13th place finish.

Woodlee (27:04) along with three other seniors ran the 8K course in under 28 minutes. Andrew Chuplis finished with a time of 27:15 with Tim Harris placing two spots behind him at 27.16. Vince Giambanco crossed the line at 27:19.

Senior Eric Miller was the fifth Hurricane runner to cross the line at 28:25. He was followed by Michael Viklund (28:33) and Jules Rosen (28:36).

There were a total of 38 men’s teams competing with Windsor, Ontario, Canada taking first place. Windsor’s Dave Weston took the overall title with a time of 25:01.40.

Steppe placed in the top-50 with a time of 19:10 in the 5K race. She was one of three to finish under the 20-minute mark, joined by Anna Bona (19:27) and Ena Leufroy (19:56). The other four runners finished within 32 seconds of the team’s top three finishers.

Texas-San Antonio’s Dana Mecke won the overall title with a time of 17:18.70, as Alabama-Birmingham won the team title with 82 points.

Miami will head to North Carolina to take part in the Covered Bridge Open in Boone Friday, Oct. 17. Saturday, Nov. 1 the teams will return to the Tar Heel state for the ACC Championships.
