UM Doubles Squad Finishes at Pre-Qualifying for All-Americans

Malibu, Calif. – Miami’s doubles team of Bianca Eichkorn and Gabriela Mejia finished up at the All-American Championships (Pre-Qualifying Doubles) late Sunday night as they were defeated in the quarterfinals at Pepperdine University.

The duo was cruising through this weekend’s portion of the eight-day tournament, but was unable to unseat third-ranked Alison Ramos and Maria Sanchez of the University of Southern California. Eichkorn and Mejia were defeated by a count of 8-3.

Action at the 2008 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships continues on Monday morning where UM sophomore Bianca Eichkorn will continue her swing through the singles portion of the event at that time. She faces Boise State’s Pichitta Thongdach at noon in the final two rounds of the Pre-Qualifying side of this year’s tournament.
