Hurricanes Prepare for UCF Black and Gold Invitational

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami cross country teams will head to Orlando for their second meet of the season when they participate in the UCF Black and Gold Cross Country Invitational set to begin Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
The Miami women are coming off a successful opening meet, where they finished first as a team. Emma Steppe was the top finisher, crossing the line as the third collegiate runner with a time of 20:01.67.
As a team the men finished third and were led by senior Ryan Woodlee, who was also the third collegiate runner to finish with a time of 21:59.87.
Joining Woodlee this weekend in Orlando will be seniors Eric Miller, Andrew Chuplis and Jules Rosen, along with freshmen Matthew Wilson and Michael Viklund, all six registered points in last week’s meet.
The young women’s squad will be represented by junior Andrea Wood, sophomores Caitlin Knapp, Katharine Woodard, Jackie Sullivan, Steppe, Monika Freiser, Kalea Aguon and freshmen Page Price, Anna Bona, Jessica Schaumburg, Casey Crist and Anne Marie Peters.
Last Friday at the Hurricanes own Greentree Invitational Bona, Price, Woodard, Freiser and Crist all received points for the winning team.
Miami will compete against Bethune Cookman, Central Florida, Flagler, Johnson and Wales, Nova Southeastern, Rollins and Webber as well as other unattached competitors.
