Hurricanes Announce 2008 Cross Country Schedule

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami cross country team has announced their 2008 schedule, with the season opening this Friday, Sept. 5, when they host the Greentree Invitational at Tropical Park.
The first of six meets this season for the Hurricanes will be the only in which Miami will host. The home team will welcome cross-town rival Florida International as well as Florida Atlantic and Florida Gulf Coast. The women’s race is set to begin at 6 p.m. with the men to follow at 6:30 p.m.
The next four meets will all be in the state of Florida, beginning with the UCF Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 13 in Orlando. The following week Miami will head to Gainesville to take part in the University of Florida’s Mountain Dew Invitational on Sept. 20.
A two week break will help the team prepare for the Florida Runners Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Titusville, Fla. The following Saturday the team will compete in the Disney Invitational, as Miami will compete in Orlando for the second time on the season.
In preparation for the ACC Championships the Hurricanes will travel to Boone, N.C. to take part in the Covered Bridge Open. The last regular season meet of the year will get underway on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
The ACC Championship is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1 in Chapel Hill, N.C. Both the men’s and women’s teams will be looking to improve on 12th place finishes in last year’s ACC Championships held in Charlottesville, Va.
The NCAA Regional Championships will be held in Knoxville, Tenn. on Saturday, Nov. 15. The NCAA Championships will be held just nine days later on Monday, Nov. 24 in Terra Haute, Ind.
