Hurricane Diver Ross Prepares for Next Event at Olympics
Aug. 19, 2008
Beijing, China – Reuben Ross, a 2008 NCAA All-American diver at the University of Miami, is preparing for the second of his two events in this year’s 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.
Ross is slated for the upcoming 10-meter platform event, which is scheduled for Aug. 22 and 23 at the National Aquatics Center. He is scheduled 12th in the starting order. Fellow Canadian Riley McCormick will also perform in the 10-meter platform and is slated sixth in the starting order.
As a native of Regina, Saskatchewan, Ross participated for the Canadian National Team on Monday and Tuesday in the 3-meter springboard. After qualifying for the second round on Monday, he was unable to sustain that energy on Tuesday as he did not make it to the finals. Teammate Alexandre Despatie finished second overall in the event to China’s Chong He.
Ross won the 2008 NCAA championship in the 3-meter springboard this past spring in Federal Way, Wash. Veteran Hurricanes head coach Randy Ableman serves as Ross’ head coach in this year’s Olympic Games.
Ross finished fourth overall in the 10-meter platform during the 2008 NCAA championships held at the King County Aquatic Center.
