Jackson, DiNatale Named to All-ACC Academic Team

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami junior outfielder Dave DiNatale and sophomore shortstop Ryan Jackson have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Baseball Team, as announced by ACC Commissioner John D. Swofford on Friday.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained at least a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.
DiNatale, a two-time All-ACC Academic Team member and Accounting major, hit .295 with nine home runs, 43 RBI and 53 runs scored in 2008 and was named the MVP of the ACC Tournament this past season. Jackson, a first-time honoree and Sociology major, hit .360 with four homers, 50 RBI and 49 runs scored en route to being named the 2008 All-ACC First Team.
Three-time academic honorees include Florida State’s Buster Posey, Virginia’s Andrew Carraway, NC State’s Joey Cutler, Maryland’s Chad Durakis, Wake Forest’s Allan Dykstra, Duke’s Nate Freiman, and Wake Forest’s Andy Goff.
Other repeat honorees from the 2007 season in addition to DiNatale include Virginia’s Neal Davis, DiNatale, Georgia Tech’s Brad Feltes, Wake Forest’s Ben Hunter, Clemson’s Alex Lee, Maryland’s Mike Murphy, Florida State’s Tommy Oravetz, Maryland’s Joe Palumbo, Virginia Tech’s Anthony Sosnoskie, and Duke’s Matt Williams.
