July 6, 2008
EUGENE, Ore. – Former University of Miami track star, Lauryn Williams advanced through the qualifying round (23.30), the quarterfinals (23.12) and the semifinals (22.59) to reach Sunday’s 4:40 p.m. final at the U.S. Olympic Trials at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.
If Williams finishes in the top three of the finals she will qualify for her second event at this year’s Olympics in Beijing, China, held in August. Last Sunday, Williams earned a spot on the Olympic Team with a third-place finish in the 100-meters.
Former Hurricane Wyllesheia Myrick made it to the quarterfinal round in the same 200-meter event but could not advance to the semifinal round.
