Talley, Three Former Hurricanes Advance at U.S. Trials

EUGENE, Ore. Khadija Talley reached the discus finals with her semifinal performance Friday evening at the U.S. Olympic Trials at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.  Three former University of Miami athletes advanced to semifinals in the 100-meters and the 400-meter hurdles.

Talley threw the discus 52.80m, qualifying for Sunday’s final at 3:15 p.m.  The top three marks in the final will make the U.S. Olympic Team.

Former Hurricanes Lauryn Williams (11.03) and Wylleshia Myrick (11.33) advanced to the 100-meter quarterfinals.  Williams finished second in her heat while Myrick finished fourth.  In the quaterfinal round Williams ran a 10.86 advancing to the semifinals.  Myrick finished just three-hundredths of a second from advancing with a tme of 11.19.  The semifinals are set to start at 3:25 p.m. Saturday with the finals later in the evening at 5:48 p.m.

Another former Hurricane, Dominique Darden ran the 400-meter hurdles in 56.55, advancing to Saturday’s semifinals at 4:10 p.m.
