Khadija Talley Named Southeast Region Field Performer of the Year

CORAL GABLES – <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Miami’s Khadija Talley has been named the NCAA Southeast Region Field Performer of the Year by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
The senior from Columbus, Ga. recently qualified for the NCAA National Championships in both the discus and the shot put. Her season best throw of 57.10m (187-4) in the discus broke her own school record and currently ranks her fourth nationally. She also finished second at the NCAA East Regionals in the shot put with a career-best mark of 17.02m (55-10.25).
The two-time ACC Discus Champion will travel to Des Moines, Iowa with nine other Hurricane women student-athletes to take part in the National Championships, June 11-14.
