With the win, the Hurricanes improved to 13-6 overall and 6-4 in the ACC, while the Terrapins fell to 10-10 on the season and 2-9 in the conference.

“”Winning the doubles point was very important today against a Maryland team that continues to improve,” said head Miami coach Mario Rincon. “We are glad to have finished with a winning record in the ACC, which continues to be the best conference in the country, in my opinion.”

Miami’s No. 1 and 2 doubles teams were victorious for the Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon, getting Miami off to a strong 1-0 start.

The Terps evened it up with a win at the No. 2 singles position, but the Hurricanes came charging back with four-straight singles decisions – including the match-clincher by Barnabas Carrega in the No. 6 spot – to seal the fourth-straight win for Miami heading into the ACC Tournament.

“We had a tough match today,” said junior David Rosenfeld. “Maryland is a solid team. We played well as a team, and when things got tough in the singles, we were able to pull it out and get the win. It feels great to finish the season with a win and have a winning record in the ACC.”

“It’s great to finish the regular season strong,” added All-American junior Daniel Vallverdu. “We have a few days before the conference tournament to get ready, but it’s good to see that the freshmen are stepping up in singles and doubles.”

The Hurricanes open ACC Tournament competition on Thurs., Apr. 17. Seedings will be announced by the conference on Monday.
