Senior Khadija Talley said goodbye to Cobb Stadium in fashion as she won both the shot put and the discus, replacing her own school record in the later. Not only did she break her own school record with her throw of 57.10m but she also recorded the top mark in the nation. That makes her the third member on the women’s track and field team to hold the No. 1 ranking in an event, joining Krista Simkins (200-meters) and Ti’erra Brown (400-meter hurdles). In the shot put, Talley reached a season-best and NCAA regional mark, reaching 15.00-meters, moving up to No. 29 in the nation. She also posted the best collegiate mark in the hammer throw at 52.96.
Also in the hammer throw, freshman Miranda Wilson reached 42.98m and senior Erin Keene hit 38.01m. <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Wilson also came in seventh place in the shot put at 12.58m, with senior Misti Barber taking second place at 14.80m. Sophomore Deandra Doyley won the triple jump with a personal-best distance of 12.30m. She also came in sixth in the long jump with a mark of 5.73m. In the 100-meter hurdles she fell a hundredth of a second short of her personal-best with a time of 14.04.
Also running in the 100-meter hurdles was Brown, who registered the best collegiate time in the event at 13.38, her second-best NCAA Regional mark of the year.
