Game Three of Miami-Duke Series Cancelled
March 30, 2008
DURHAM, N.C. – For the second straight Sunday, the University of Miami baseball team had game three of an Atlantic Coast Conference series called due to inclement weather as game three of the Miami-Duke series has been cancelled. The Hurricanes clinched the series Saturday behind a strong pitching performance from senior-right hander Enrique Garcia.
The Hurricanes and Blue Devils moved up the Sunday start time to noon and began play with a light rain falling at Jack Coombs Field. As the rain began to fall heavier, the teams played through it and Duke took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI triple by Gabriel Saade. However, the rain picked up and umpires sent both teams to the dugouts.
The game was eventually cancelled as rain continued to fall in the Durham, N.C. area. Last Sunday, the Hurricanes had game three of their ACC series with Wake Forest called due to inclement weather in the bottom of the fourth inning with UM ahead, 9-1.
Miami is now 21-2 and 9-1 in the ACC. The Hurricanes return home Tuesday to host FAU at 7 p.m. at Mark Light Field. Miami will travel across town Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game against FIU at University Park.
