CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 9 University of Miami baseball team (3-0) travel to Jupiter Tuesday to play an exhibition game against the Florida Marlins at 3:05 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium. It will be the ninth meeting between the two teams, with the Marlins holding a 7-1-1 advantage in the series.

Sophomore right-hander John Housey will get the start for the Hurricanes on the mound for the second straight year against the Marlins. He tossed one scoreless inning, struck out one and allowed a walk in last season’s meeting.

The Marlins won last year’s meeting, 12-7, overcoming a 7-5 deficit with seven runs in the final two innings. Miami used two doubles and a couple of walks to score five runs in the top of the sixth. Gus Menendez walked and stole second. Ryan Jackson drove in Menendez tying the game, 4-4. Jemile Weeks put the Hurricanes ahead when his infield single hit off second base umpire allowing Ryan Jackson to score giving UM a 5-4 lead. Ben Vazquez’s pinch-hit double down the left field put Miami ahead, 7-4, in the sixth.

Former Hurricane Gaby Sanchez is a non-roster invitee for the Florida Marlins. Sanchez played for UM from 2003-04.

UM returns to its college schedule Friday when the Hurricanes host the Florida Gators for a three-game series at Mark Light Field.
