Miami Rowing Signs Monika Sajincic

CORAL GABLES, Fla.- University of Miami head rowing coach Robbie Tenenbaum has announced the addition of Monika Sajincic to the UM rowming team for the upcoming 2008 spring season.
The addition of Sajincic, a native of Piran, Slovenia, brings a wealth of international rowing experience to an already talented group of rowers returning from the fall.
“Monika is a very talented student-athlete that has already begun to fit in on our team and in the classroom,” head coach Robbie Tenenbaum said. “All of us are looking forward to what she has to offer the team, on and off the water.”
Sajincic has enjoyed a great deal of success at the prep level internationally dating back to 2005. In 2006 and 2007, Sajincic won the Slovenian national championship in singles scull in addition to a fifth place finish in the lightweight single at the World Under-23 Championships in Strathclyde, Scotland in 2007. At the Junior World Championships, Sajincic placed 9th in 2006 in the junior women’s quad in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and 13th in 2005 in the junior women’s double in Brandenburg, Germany.
UM’s spring season opens March 29 when the team heads to Orlando to compete against UCF. Prior to the season-opener, the `Canes will scrimmage against the University of Michigan, Sunday, Feb. 24 in Tampa, Fla.
