UM Duo Falls in Third Place Doubles Match at FSU Invite

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Freshman Bianca Eichkorn defeated Kansas’ Kunigunda Dorn, 6-1, 6-0, Saturday in the first round of the consolation bracket at the FSU Invitational at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center while sophomore Claudia Wasilewski fell 2-6, 7-5, 7-6 (8) to Edina Horvath, also from Kansas.
Eichkorn, after defeating Dorn in convincing fashion, will move on to face Lena Willi of Jacksonville University Sunday morning at 10 a.m. Wasilewski will also be playing an opponent from Jacksonville, Lina Xu, at 9 a.m. Sunday.
In doubles play, after defeating the Jacksonville duo of Willi and Fernando Carrero, 9-7, on Friday, lost to the the FIU duo of Liset Brito and Egle Petrauskaite, 8-2, in the second round of play. In the third place match, Eichkorn and Wasilewski fell to the USF duo of Janette Bejikova and Jessica Zok, 8-6.
Their teammates, Romy Farah and Caren Seenauth were eliminated in the doubles semifinal round of the 2007 ITA National Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Saturday.
