Fall Season Comes to a Close for Miami Men's Tennis

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The University of Miami closed its fall season on Saturday, competing at pair of tournaments across the country.
Junior All-American Daniel Vallverdu (Valencia, Venezuela) and freshman Carl Sundberg (Oslo, Norway) finished their run for the `Canes at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio, falling in the consolation bracket semifinals to Texas Tech’s 10th-ranked duo of Christian Rojmar and Bojan Szumanksi, 8-2.
The Miami tandem had won six straight doubles matches heading into Indoor National play and finish the fall season, 7-2.
Another pair of Hurricanes closed out the fall on Saturday at the Seminole Invitational in Tallahassee.
Junior David Rosenfeld (Coral Gables, Fla./Gulliver Prep) fell in his A Division consolation match to Florida State’s Maciek Sykut, 6-2, 6-4. Sophomore Westin Wendt (Weston, Fla./Sagemont Upper School) also dropped in his singles match in B Division consolation play, falling to South Alabama’s Aaron Krisan, 6-3, 7-5.
The Miami men’s tennis squad opens its spring dual-match schedule with a Jan. 29 contest versus in-state rival Florida at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center on UM’s Coral Gables campus.
