Hurricanes Place Fifth at Bulldog Stampede Invitational

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Miami women’s cross country team took fifth place Saturday morning at the 2007 Bulldog Stampede Invitational hosted by the University of Georgia at the UGA Golf Course.
For the second time this season and the seventh-consecutive competition dating back to last season, senior Delia Phlatts turned in the fastest time on the women’s team. Phlatts took 23rd place Saturday in the 5,000-meter run, crossing the finish line with a time of 19:18.67 to led UM to a fifth place finish with 128 points.
Following Phlatts was freshman Caitlin Knapp, who took 33rd with a time of 20:01.65, junior Ena Leufroy, who finished 34th with a time of 20:08.33, and freshman Donna Cheung, who placed 36th with a time of 20:12.46.
Freshman Katherine Woodard finished 42nd with a time of 20:34.26 while senior Jessica Fern (21.18.10) finished 52nd and junior Anika Arevalo (22:00.01) placed 56th.
The Hurricanes return to action Friday, Oct. 5 traveling to Titusville, Fla. to take part in the flarunners.com Invitational.
