Hurricanes Continue Preparation for No. 6 Oklahoma
Sept. 5, 2007
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – – The University of Miami football team continued preparation for its game at No. 6 Oklahoma with its second practice of the week at the Greentree Practice Fields Wednesday. The Hurricanes and Sooners will face off at noon Saturday at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The game will be nationally televised on ABC.
After a tough workout session in full pads on Tuesday, UM worked out in shells on Wednesday. Loud music was played to help the Hurricanes get acclimated to the environment expected for Saturday’s game. The game is a sellout, and more than 84,000 fans are expected to be in attendance.
“We just wanted some noise,” UM head coach Randy Shannon said. “We played all Oklahoma stuff yesterday, so we had something different today. It’s so people can hardly hear and you’re basically yelling and screaming all the time. We want to be prepared.”
Sophomore wide receiver Sam Shields will play against Oklahoma. Shields caught 37 passes for 501 yards and four touchdowns last season. Shannon said fullback Jerrell Mabry practiced and should be ready for the Oklahoma game. Mabry was banged up after the Marshall game.
Miami will practice for the last time at 3 p.m. Thursday. The team will travel to Norman, Okla., on Friday.
