2007 UM Summer Baseball Teams

What’s been happening in the Cape Cod Baseball League

  • Alonso was named the Coca Cola Player of the Week after having a good week three for the Brewster Whitecaps. Alonso had a 3-for-4, four-RBI performance against the Hyannis Mets. Alonso’s two home runs in that game, a solo shot and a three-run blast, helped lift the Whitecaps to an 8-4 victory. Alonso was hot at the plate for the week, hitting .400 in five games.
  • Five UM players have been representing the Hurricanes in the league. Besides Alonso, Tekotte and Raben, rising sophomores Mark Sobolewski and Ryan Jackson have been contributors to their respective teams. Sobolewski is playing with Raben for the Orleans Cardinals while Jackson plays for the Hyannis Mets. Jackson has started all 32 games at shortstop for the Mets collecting 20 hits, seven runs and 12 RBI while hitting .187. Sobolewski has played 29 games for the Cardinals mostly at third base. He has 18 hits, five doubles, nine RBI and 23 total bases while hitting .178.
  • UM had a little bad news when outfielder Dave DiNatale suffered an injury in a game for the Bourne Braves. DiNatale is out for the rest of the summer season, but will be back for fall ball for the Hurricanes.
