Hurricanes Wrap Up Competition at Georgia Tech Invite

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Junior Khadija Talley took first-place finishes in the shot put and had the highest collegiate finish in the discus throw to lead the University of Miami women’s track team at the Georgia Tech Invitational Saturday in Atlanta, Ga.
Talley won the shot put with an NCAA regional mark of 54 feet (16.46m) and finished first among all collegians with a throw of 168 feet, four inches (51.32m) in the discus throw.
Junior teammate Misiti Barber placed fifth in the shot put with an NCAA regional mark of 48 feet (14.63m).
Junior Kaitlin Nazario finished third in the javelin with a throw of 141 feet, three inches (14.05m).
In the 100-meters, freshman Kristy Whyte won her respective heat with a time of 11.94 seconds while sophomore Krista Simkins finished fouth among all collegiate competitors in the 200-meters with an NCAA regional time of 23.62 seconds. The UM 4×100-meter relay team placed third with a time of 44.56 seconds.
