Miami Primed for 113th Running of Penn Relays

CORAL GABLES, Fla. –
The <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Miami men’s track and field team will head to the University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field for the 113th Penn Relays which began Tuesday and runs through Saturday in Philadelphia.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Combined Miami will send a total of five student athletes to the prestigious meet which features more than 425 races taking place over the course of the five-day event.
The UM team of freshman Cory Nelms, seniors Terrell Walden and Roland DaSilva and junior Tim Harris will take part in the top flight of the sprint medley relay, more commonly known at the Penn Relays as the prominent Championship of America.
Harris will lead the group on the heels of taking his second-consecutive outdoor and fourth-straight ACC 800-meter Championship last weekend.
Nelms is slated to compete in the 100-meter hurdles and junior Casey McGinn, who set a personal record with a mark of 4.95 meters (16-02.75 feet) at last weekend’s ACC Outdoor Championships, will participate in the pole vault.
