Miami Prepares for 2007 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s track and field team will head to the University of Maryland’s Kehoe Track Complex for the 2007 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships beginning Thursday, April 19 running through Saturday, April 21.

Reigning ACC Outdoor and two-time ACC Indoor 800-meter Champion Tim Harris will look to lead the Hurricanes this weekend.

Harris’ time of 1:48.74, recorded on two separate occasions, is the fastest in the ACC and the fifth-fastest time in the NCAA this season in the 800-meters.

Junior teammate Richard Bernard joins Harris as one of the league’s top performers in the 800-meters, clocking in with a time of 1:51.62 which marks the fifth-fastest time in the conference.

Freshman Cory Nelms holds the fifth-fastest finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.32 seconds while senior Roland DaSilva and junior Casey McGinn each have the ACC’s sixth-highest mark in the pole vault (16-01.00).

Competition will begin Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and continues through Friday up until Saturday’s award ceremony slated for 4:15 p.m.
