Hurricanes Dominant at 2007 Miami Elite Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s track and field team recorded two first place and five top-three finishes Saturday at this year’s annual Miami Elite Invitational held at Cobb Stadium.
Highlighting the men’s performance was senior Jon Scheiner who placed first in the 3,000-meters with a time of 8:45.18 while competing at Cobb Stadium for the final time of his four-year career.
Junior Casey McGinn was awarded second place by a judge’s decision in the pole vault with a mark of 4.90 meters which tied the highest mark by event winner Chad Stoermer of Texas A&M.
The UM men’s and women’s teams will return to action next weekend heading to College Park, Md. for the 2007 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
