Faluade Breaks UM Record at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Senior Brenda Faluade’s school record breaking performance in the long jump highlighted the days events for the University of Miami women’s track and field teams Friday at the 2007 Pepsi Florida Relays held at the University of Florida.

En route to winning the women’s long jump, Faluade reached a mark of 6.53 meters to top former Hurricane Gina Harris previous UM record of 6.44 meters set May 3, 2003.

Senior teammate Amy Seward placed second in the long jump with an NCAA regional mark of 6.39 meters.

Also earning NCAA regional marks and times was sophomore Viktoria Andonova who finished fourth in the long jump with a mark of 1.75 meters, senior Ginou Etienne who placed second among all collegiate competitors in the 400-meters with a time of 52.60 and sophomore Krista Simkins who finished sixth in the 400 with a time of 53.53.
