Miami Men's Tennis Hosts a Pair of ACC Matches This Weekend

Coral Gables, Fla. – The No. 37 University of Miami men’s tennis team will take on a pair of ACC opponents at home at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center over the weekend. The Hurricanes open the action versus 45th-ranked Maryland on Saturday, March 24, at 1:30 p.m. and then take on Boston College on Sunday, March 25, at 11 a.m. Admission to both matches is free.
Miami rides a season-best three-match win streak into the weekend, including a pair of wins over top-25 opponents and a 7-0 sweep of No. 42 Georgia Tech on Tuesday. Sophomore Daniel Vallverdu (Valencia, Venezuela) leads the Hurricanes with a team-high 20 victories this year, including a 10-3 mark in dual match play, while senior Luigi D’Agord (Freeport, Bahamas) boasts a 12-2 dual match record in the top-flight singles position and has compiled a 15-3 mark overall. With 85 career singles wins, senior Josh Cohen (Weston, Fla./Laurel Springs) ranks third in program history and is 10 victories shy of second place and 13 short of the record.
The Hurricanes are undefeated versus both of this weekend’s opponents, leading the all-time series versus the Terrapins, 3-0, and are 2-0 versus the Eagles.
Maryland (10-3, 2-2 ACC) comes off Thursday’s 6-1 loss at 29th-ranked Florida State, while Boston College (4-10, 0-3 ACC) looks to rebound from Monday’s 6-1 loss to the Terps.
Following this weekend’s matches, the Hurricanes head north for a pair of ACC matches. They will face No. 14 North Carolina on Friday, March 20, at 1 p.m. and then take on No. 17 Duke on Sunday, April 1, at 1 p.m.
