Hurricanes Earn Honorable Mention in the Three-Meter at the NCAA Championships

Minneapolis, Minn. – Senior Heather Bounds and freshman Brittany Viola earned ALL-American Honorable mention in the women’s three-meter diving preliminaries Friday afternoon at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, as held at the Minnesota Aquatic Center on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Bounds, who earned honorable mention in Thursday’s one-meter finals, posted a 16th place finish in the finals with a score of 266.35. She came in 10th place in the three-meter preliminaries with a score of 328.45 earlier in the day.
Viola, a native of Orlando, Florida, competed in her first NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships and posted a 14th place finish with a score of 291.35 in the finals. She placed 16th with a score of 311.70 in the afternoon preliminaries.
Also participating in yesterday’s competition was junior Jenna Dreyer who finished 18th with a score of 307.95.
Student-athletes who finish among the top eight are named All-America. Those who place anywhere from ninth to 16th place are designated All-America Honorable mention.
The meet concludes today with the 10-meter platform.
