Hurricanes Conclude First Week of Spring Practice
March 8, 2007
Coral Gables – The Miami Hurricanes went through their third day of drills and concluded their first week of spring practice this afternoon on the Greentree Athletic Fields. The team will take next week off, since that is spring break at the University of Miami.
“We got some contact in today and it went well,” said head coach Randy Shannon. “There were some big run plays on offense and some decent pass plays. The defense flew around and made plays and made some things happen. We’re finishing the first week on a good note and have to keep doing what we need to get done. We have to keep emphasizing that players have to get better every day. The energy has been there. That’s what has come around. Guys run from drill to drill, and we’re exciting about that.”
Shannon talked about his new coaching staff, saying, “When you have good people, anybody can work together. You gel without a chip on your shoulder. Everyone has a common goal, and that is to win games and practice hard.”
The Hurricanes will return to practice on Tuesday, March 20 with a 3:05 practice session.
There are three practices that will be open to the public this spring: scrimmages on Saturday, March 24 in Coral Gables; on Friday evening March 30 at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami; and the annual spring game on Saturday, April 7.
