Feb. 8, 2007
CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The No. 11 University of Miami men’s tennis team heads to Tampa to take on the University of South Florida on Friday, February 9, at 2 p.m.
The Hurricanes return to the court following Monday’s disappointing 4-3 loss to unranked Wisconsin, which dropped the 2-1 Miami program one spot to No. 11 in the latest Fila/ITA Poll released Tuesday.
Senior All-American Luigi D’Agord (Freeport, Bahamas), the 2006 ACC Player of the Year, remains undefeated at 6-0 in the No. 1 singles spot, including a 3-0 mark versus ranked opponents. Alongside senior Josh Cohen (Weston, Fla./Laurel Springs), the pair are a perfect 5-0 in top-flight doubles competition.
USF is coming off back-to-back losses to ranked opponents, and picked up its lone win of 2007 dual match play with a 5-2 defeat of Stetson on Jan. 27. The Hurricanes downed Stetson, 6-1, earlier this season, and leads the all-time series versus USF, 38-7, including a 4-0 win over the Bulls in 2006.
Following Friday’s match at USF, Miami will head to Orlando to take on UCF (2-2) on Sunday, February 11, at 11 a.m. The ‘Canes are 7-0 all-time versus the Golden Knights, including a 7-0 victory in 2006.
