Hurricanes Sees Success over Weekend

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Several members of the University of Miami men’s track and field team saw success at different venues Saturday as the team competed at the UNC Fast Times in Chapel Hill, N.C. and the Diet Pepsi Invitational in Gainesville, Fla.

One of the most notable performances by a Hurricane at the Diet Pepsi Invitational was set by junior Tim Harris, who won the 800 meters with an NCAA provisional time of 1:49.73. Harris’ time marks the fastest time set in the 800 this season by any NCAA athlete.

At the UNC Fast Times, UM senior Roland DaSilva took first place in the men’s heptathlon with a total of 5,118 points while junior Lance Leggett crossed as the top collegiate finisher and second overall in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 7.92.

The men’s track and field team returns to action Feb. 9 at the Iowa Stat Classic in Ames, Iowa.
