D'Agord Wins UM Spring Invitational Championship

CORAL GABLES, Fla. –
Senior Luigi D’Agord defeated Duke’s 100th-ranked Joey Atas Monday afternoon to claim the overall points championship on the third and final day of the UM Spring Invitational at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
D’Agord, who posted a perfect 3-0 record in the top-flight singles position at the tournament, knocked off Atas in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5, on a rain-soaked afternoon that forced the cancellation of several matches.
D’Agord and the Hurricanes will officially open the 2007 dual season next Sunday at the <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>NeilSchiffTennisCenter when they play host to in-state rival North Florida at 3 p.m. Admission is free.
