Miami Women's Swimming Wrap-Up the Third Annual Matt Gribble Invitational

Coral Gables, Fla. -The University of Miami women’s swimming team competed against Texas A&M in the third Annual Matt Gribble Invitational Saturday morning at the Norman Whitten Student Union pool. The event was in honor of former Miami swimmer Matt Gribble who passed away in March of 2004
Fifth ranked Texas A&M proved they are one of the best teams in the country as they came away with first place finishes in 10 out of 11 events. The Hurricanes started the day with a third place finish in the 200 yard medley relay clocking in at 1:48.15.
Freshman Britta Boesing was ready to compete coming in at second place in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:06.61. The rookie showed great strength in the 100 yard backstroke clocking in at 57.38 to post another second place finish.
Three other swimmers also finished with second place results as junior Tara Erwin touched the wall at 5:13.13 in the 500 yard Freestyle. Two rookies, including Katie Eason and Kelly Peloquin, also registered second place wins. Eason turned in a 58.47 time in the 100 yard butterfly, while Peloquin finished with a time of 1:06.10 in the 100 yard breaststroke.
By the end of the meet, the Hurricanes came away with a first place win in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Taking lead was Boesing followed by newcomer on the swimming roster, freshman Marina Dadic, with Emerson Davis and Jennifer Powell right behind. The team clocked in with a time of 1:39.56 to wrap-up the day.
The Hurricanes will be back in action to commence their regular season play as they travel to Texas to take on Rice January 19, followed by Houston on the 20th.
