Hurricanes Wrap up Their Weekend against Western Kentucky

Coral Gables, Fla. – The University of Miami swimming and diving team closed out their weekend defeating Western Kentucky today at the Norman Whitten Student Union Pool.

Today the Hurricanes defeated the Hilltoppers 136-106. Miami took eight first-place wins out of 12 events.

Um started the day clocking in first place at 1:45.69 in the 200 yard medley relay with swimmers Ashley Knapp, Magda Waszkiewicz, Katie Eason, and Kristen Pomerleau.

Sophomore Kristen Pomerleau took two first place finishes beginning with the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 23.94, and the 100 yard freestyle clocking in at 51.38.

Freshman Katie Eason also finished with two first place wins in the 200 yard individual medley clocking in at 2:06.79 and the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 57.88.

In the 100 yard breaststroke, Kelly Peloquin clocked in at 1:04.89 for a first place finish.

First place finishes in the diving events include Jenna Dreyer in the one meter springboard with a score of 295.20, while Heather Bounds came away with a score of 327.00 in the three meter diving springboard.

The Hurricanes will return to the pool as they take on Florida Atlantic University in a home meet, Friday November 3 at 3:00 p.m.
