12th-Ranked Hurricanes Win Tri-Meet

Miami, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s cross country team placed six runners in the top-8 to win a three-way meet against Florida International and Florida Atlantic Thursday at Tropical Park in Miami, Fla.
Miami, ranked 12th in the South Region by the USTFCCCA, scored 25 points while FIU placed second with 33 points. Florida Atlantic finished third (85 points).
The Hurricanes were paced by sophomore Andrew Chuplis (Winter Park, Fla.) who finished third overall with a time of 21:18 over four miles. Senior Jon Scheiner (Katy, Texas), the Hurricanes top finisher in the last two races, placed fourth with a time of 21:21.
Rounding out the Miami scoring was senior Seth Kampf (Ellicott City, Md.) who finished fifth (21:25), sophomore Ryan Woodlee (Silver Spring, Md.) who placed sixth (21:30) and senior Zach Castiglione (Brighton, Mich.) who was seventh (21:42).
FIU’s D.J. Keller won the individual title in a time of 20:46.
The tri-meet is the final tune-up for the Hurricanes before the ACC Cross Country Championships, October 28 in Charlottesville, Va.
