Cross Country Hosts Tri-Meet On Thursday

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s and women’s cross country teams will host a tri-meet versus Florida International and Florida Atlantic on Thursday, October 12 beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Tropical Park in Miami, Fla. Admission is free.

The UM men, ranked 12th in the South Region by the USTFCCCA, have been led this season by senior Jon Scheiner (Katy, Texas). Scheiner has been the Hurricanes top finisher in two of three races this season including a 23rd overall finish at the Auburn Invitational on September 30. Scheiner’s time of 24:57.77 over the eight kilometers course marked the fourth fastest time in school history over that distance.

The Miami women have been led by junior DeeDee Phlatts (Silver Spring, MD) who has been the Hurricanes top finisher at all three events this season including a seventh-place overall finish at the season opening Sharks Invitational.
