THIS WEEK’S GAME:
Back on the winning track, the Miami Hurricanes remain home this Saturday when they host the NorthCarolina Tar Heels at 12:00 noon ET in the Orange Bowl. The Hurricanes are 2-2 this season and will playACC rivals for seven of the remaining eight games.
Miami is coming off a hard-fought 14-13 victory over over previously unbeaten Houston last Saturdaynight in the Orange Bowl. Led by true freshman Javarris James, who rushed for 148 yards, the Hurricanesran for 230 yards and gained 420 yards on offense. Meanwhile, the Miami defense held the Cougars, whowent into the game ranked third in total offense and fifth in passing offense, to 196 yards through the airand 276 yards total.
More than anything, the win over Houston put the Hurricanes back on track in their quest to win theAtlantic Coast Conference and receive a berth in a BCS bowl game.
North Carolina is 1-3 this season with a win over Furman and losses to Rutgers, Virginia Tech andClemson. North Carolina is one of only two ACC schools that hold a series lead over Miami. In ninegames played dating back to 1946, the Tar Heels have five victories to Miami’s four.
