Hurricanes Place Sixth At Auburn Invitational

Auburn, AL (hurricanesports.com) – Led by senior Jon Scheiner’s 23rd-place finish the University of Miami men’s cross country team finished sixth at the Auburn University Invitational at Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn, AL.
Scheiner (Katy, TX) recorded a career-best time of 24:57.77 over eight kilometers marking the second consecutive race in which he has been Miami’s top finisher.
Miami, which placed sixth out of 21 teams with 212 points, had three runners finish in the top-50 individually and placed ahead of SEC powers LSU, Ole Miss and host Auburn, as well as cross town rival FIU.
Sophomore Andrew Chulpis (Winter Park, FL) continues to impress this season placing 38th in a time of 25:18.09 while senior Zach Castiglione (Brighton, MI) also placed in the top-50 finishing 48th in a time of 25:23.61.
Also scoring for the Hurricanes was sophomore Eric Miller (Katy, TX) who finished 69th (25:54.47) and senior Seth Kampf (Ellicott City, MD) who placed 71st (25:56.51).
Stephen F. Austin (45 points) won the team competition while Barnabas Kirui (Ole Miss) won the individual title in a time 23:28.65.
