Hurricanes Win Fifth Straight Season Opener

SUNRISE, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s cross country team recorded 26 points to win the Nova Southeastern Sharks Invitational on Saturday marking the Hurricanes’ fifth consecutive season-opening win.
Miami, which has not lost a season-opening event since 2001, was led by sophomore Andrew Chuplis (Winter Park, Fla.) who finished second overall completing the 5K course in a time of 16:43.28.
The Hurricanes had six runners place in the top-10 on Saturday and recorded an average time of 16:56.39. Other Hurricanes finishing in the top-10 individually included sophomore Eric Miller who placed fourth (16:51.34), senior Jon Scheiner who finished fifth (16:53.18), senior Seth Kampf who placed sixth (16:57.50), sophomore Ryan Woodlee who was ninth (17:16.65) and freshman Julio Bonilla who finished 10th (17:17.12).
Miami returns to action on September 16 at the Florida Invitational in Gainesville, FL.
