CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Miami’s Audra Cohen was one of 12 of the nation’s top men’s and women’s collegiate tennis players to be named to the 2006 USTA Summer Collegiate Team, administered by the USTA and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), it was announced Tuesday.
The USTA Summer Collegiate Team is an elite training program for the top American collegiate tennis players that began in 1996 and is funded by the USTA. It is designed to provide players with valuable exposure to the USTA Pro Circuit in a team-oriented environment during the summer months. This year’s team will be playing in USTA Pro Circuit events primarily during the month of July.
Cohen, a sophomore, finished the season ranked No. 1 in the final Fila/ITA National Singles Rankings. Among her many honors throughout the season, she was named the ITA National Player of the Year. Cohen joins Stanford’s Amber Liu and Georgia’s John Isner as the only repeat members on the team.
