Miami Diving Signs Emily Bouck

Standout diver Emily Bouck has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Miami diving squad in 2006-07 it was announced by head coach Randy Ableman.

Bouck, an Orlando, Fla. native, joins club teammate Brittany Viola, who signed with Miami in January. Both divers compete for Team Orlando Diving and head coach Jay Lerew.

Bouck overcame Osgood-Schlatter disease–a common childhood condition caused by strain on the knees that can lead to a pulling of the muscles around the kneecap–in both knees to win two national titles (on the one and 10-meter events) at the 2003 Speedo National Junior Diving Championships in Coral Springs, Fla.

That same year, Bouck went on to win a gold medal on the three-meter and a silver medal on the 10-meter platform at the Junior Pan-Am Games in Brazil. Bouck likewise won the three-meter event in 2001. She was also was named the Camo Invitational Junior Female Athlete of the meet in 2001 and 2003.

Bouck, who attends William R. Boone High School, was the one-meter springboard runner-up at the 2004 Florida State High School Championship.

At the 2004 U.S. Olympic Diving Team Trials, Bouck paired up with Nicole Pohorenec to finish third on the synchronized platform event.
