Harris Advances To NCAA East Regional Final

Greensboro, N.C. (hurricanesports.com) – Sophomore All-American Tim Harris (Miami Booker T. Washington) won his preliminary heat of the 800-meters in a time of 1:49.29 to highlight action at the NCAA East Regional Championship in Greensboro, N.C.
Harris, the ACC Indoor and Outdoor champion, posted the third fastest time of the preliminaries in advancing to Saturday’s final. The 800-meter final is scheduled to begin at 6:10 p.m.
In the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Lance Leggett (Bartow, Fla.), battling a hamstring injury, placed second in his preliminary heat with a time of 14.01 seconds. Leggett, the 2006 ACC Champion in the 400-meter hurdles and runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles, finished 12th overall and did not qualify for the final.
Competing for the first time on Saturday will be freshman Elan Daviglus (Miami Northwest Christian) in the high jump. Daviglus established a UM record in the high jump (2.08m/6-09.75) during the indoor season, and recorded the second-best jump in school-history (2.10m/6-10.75) this outdoor season.
