Deem Named ACC Coach of the Year

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami head women’s track and field coach Amy Deem was named the 2006 ACC Outdoor Track and Field Coach of the Year on Tuesday by a vote of the league’s coaches.
Deem, who was named the ACC Indoor Coach of the Year earlier this season, has now swept both the ACC indoor and outdoor Coach of the Year awards for the second consecutive season.
Deem led Miami to its second straight ACC Outdoor Track and Field title posting five individual event titles while establishing a meet high 12 All-ACC honorees. Since joining the league in 2004-05, the Hurricanes have captured four straight track and field titles in both the indoor and outdoor seasons combined.
Miami, which finished fifth at the 2006 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, is currently ranked No. 1 in the nation by Trackwire and is No. 2 in the US Track & Field, Cross Country Coaches Association poll.
